Lincoln County ’s Brandon Weir 

voted GHK “No Spit” All-Star of the Year

 Weir voted Kentucky ’s best high school baseball player who had pledged not to use spit tobacco  

FRANKFORT, KY – “The Sports Flash” (TSF) Radio Network and the Get Healthy Kentucky (GHK) are proud to announce that Lincoln County’s Brandon Weir has been voted the Get Healthy Kentucky “No Spit” All-Star of the Year for 2008.  During the ten week campaign, more than 8,400 fans voted for the GHK “No Spit” All-Star campaign.  Weir tallied more than, 2,660 votes for the GHK “No Spit” All-Star of the Year.  

Weir hit .432 this season with two triples, four doubles, three home runs, 19 runs batted in, and 10 stolen bases.  On the mound, Weir was 3-3 with a 3.34 earned run average and 72 strike outs.  Weir pitched a no-hitter and a one-hitter this season for Lincoln County .  Weir is the second-ever GHK “No Spit” All-Star of the Year.  In 2007, St. Xavier’s Damon McCormick earned the inaugural honor.  McCormick started 40 games as a freshman at Valparaiso University .  

The Get Healthy Kentucky “No Spit” All-Star campaign is designed to honor those high school baseball players in the state who have chosen to live a healthy lifestyle, without spit tobacco or any tobacco products of any kind.
