FRANKFORT, KY – “The Sports Flash” (TSF) Radio Network and Get Healthy Kentucky (GHK) are proud to announce that fans have selected Bowling Green’s J.P. Bowling Green ’s J.P. Jackson hit .360 this season for the Purples with 15 doubles, 28 runs batted in, and 22 stolen bases.  On the mound, Jackson was 1-0 with one save and a 2.21 earned run average.  Jackson has signed to continue his baseball career at Western Kentucky University .

Jackson joins Lincoln County ’s Brandon Weir (2008) and St. Xavier’s Damon McCormick (2007) as the previous winners of the Get Healthy Kentucky “No Spit” All-Star of the Year.  As a sophomore at Lincoln County , Weir tossed a no-hitter and one-hitter for the Patriots.  In 2007, McCormick won the inaugural GHK “No Spit” All-Star of the Year.  McCormick has played in 85 games with 84 starts at shortstop in the last two seasons at Valparaiso University , where he led the team with 14 stolen bases this season.

According to the Kentucky Youth Survey 2006, 23-percent of high school males have used some form of smokeless tobacco in the past 30 days.  Each weekly nominee and weekly winner of the GHK “No Spit” All-Star of the Week has pledged not to use smokeless tobacco, understanding that tobacco contains more than 46 cancer causing agents.  These cancer-causing agents are present in cigarettes, cigars, smoke, and all forms of smokeless tobacco, including spit, snuff, and chew.
