Newton’s Kevin Shorter voted Marine Corps Elite Warrior of the Year for Houston

Marine Corps Elite Warrior of the Week campaign honors the state’s best football players

 

 

HOUSTON, TEXAS – The Marine Corps Recruiting Station Houston is proud to announce that Newton’s Kevin Shorter has been voted the Marine Corps Elite Warrior of the Year as the best high school football player in Houston.  Shorter rushed for 1,174 yards with 19 touchdowns this season while making 10 receptions for 263 yards with five scores.  On defense, Shorter made 43 tackles, grabbed three interceptions, and recovered a fumble.  For two weeks, fans voted at www.TheSportsFlash.com and selected Shorter for the honor.
