Cheraw’s Marvin Lauderdale voted Army Iron Man of the Year
Army Iron Man honors the best two-way high school football players in the Grand Strand & Pee Dee Region
FLORENCE, SC - The U.S. Army Florence Recruiting Company is proud to announce that Cheraw’s Marvin Lauderdale is the Army Iron Man of the Year for South Carolina. Fans voted online at www.TheSportsFlash.com and selected Lauderdale from among ten finalists, with 5,689 votes. Dillon’s Kwinton Smith was second with 3,458 votes while Hannah-Pamplico’s Terry Self finished in third with 2,648 votes. Lauderdale will represent South Carolina at the Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas in December in Spartanburg. Lauderdale earned the week three Army Iron Man honor after totaling 283 all-purpose yards with three touchdowns in a 41-7 win over Marion. Lauderdale had a 41-yard scoring reception, ran for another score, and returned a kick-off for an 85-yard score in the win. Playing and excelling on both offense and defense, the Army Iron Man must demonstrate physical and emotional strength as well as strength of character.
